Raisin Scones Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/2 cup raisins

2/3 cup milk

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in the raisins until evenly distributed.

3. Mix Wet Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

4. Form the Dough:

Gently mix the wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick.

5. Cut the Scones:

Using a sharp knife or a biscuit cutter, cut the dough into wedges or rounds, depending on your preference.

Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

6. Bake the Scones:

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.

7. Cool and Serve:

Remove the scones from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly.

Serve the scones warm with butter, clotted cream, or your favorite jam.
