Cheeseburger Cabbage Wraps.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional Toppings:

  • Sliced pickles
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced avocado
  • Sugar-free ketchup
  • Mustard

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Cabbage Leaves:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully peel off 8 large cabbage leaves.
  2. Blanch the cabbage leaves in the boiling water for about 1-2 minutes until they are pliable. Remove them and immediately plunge into ice water to stop the cooking process. Pat dry with paper towels and set aside.

2. Cook the Beef Mixture:

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well incorporated into the beef mixture.

3. Assemble the Wraps:

  1. Place a blanched cabbage leaf on a flat surface. Spoon a portion of the cheeseburger mixture onto the center of the leaf.
  2. Add any optional toppings you like (sliced pickles, tomatoes, shredded lettuce, etc.).
  3. Fold the sides of the cabbage leaf over the filling and then roll up from the bottom to create a wrap. Secure with a toothpick if necessary.
  4. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and filling.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the cheeseburger cabbage wraps immediately with additional toppings or dipping sauces if desired.
